Sophi took part in a fundraising drive for the fantastic
BALD ANGELS CHARITABLE TRUST's event The Big Shave 2015, raising money for underprivileged Northland children and their families suffering from the impact of cancer and terminal illness.  

Bald Angels were aiming to raise $100,000 to help Northland children and their families AND to break a Guinness World Record with their event "The Big Shave" - with ten hairdressers shaving 400 heads in one hour!  They did much better than that, with 462 volunteers shaving off their locks in a massive show of community spirit and support.

If you're dwelling outside of Kerikeri but want to get involved, don't panic!  You can be a part of this great cause by donating online -

LIGHTENING BUG worked with us offering their beautiful hair shimmers to people donating towards Bald Angels' The Big Shave.
At our raffle stall on Saturday October 10th people were able to have Hair Shimmers woven into their locks for $2!  Cathy from LIGHTENING BUG was on hand to apply them, with all proceeds going to BALD ANGELS CHARITABLE TRUST.

Alternatively you and a group of friends can go to Hobson Hair Studio from 3pm on Thursdays and Fridays and have these beautiful hair shimmers worked into your hair by Cathy herself!  Give Cathy the code "Sophi Sent Me" and she will give you a special discount with all proceeds going to Sophi's Bald Angels' drive.  Isn't Cathy fantastic? 
While she's helping with Bald Angels' drive she is also working on her own charity drive for the New Zealand Breast Cancer Foundation - do ask her about it!

The Final Countdown to THE BIG SHAVE!

We were asked to help out with the stage set up for The Big Shave, and contacted several nurseries to decorate the stage with beautiful native New Zealand plants.  Stephen from South Pacific Palms provided gorgeous Nikau palms, Warren Baker offered delicate Kowhai trees, silvery flaxes and native grasses, and Julia from Kerikeri Plant Production gave us multicoloured flaxes and flowering native beauties.  Thank you so much to these kind plant nurturers - the stage looked really good.  Thanks in particular to Stephen who went out of his way to spend hours cutting up hessian to cover the pots and plant bases and helping with the lay out of the plants.  Big love.

Sophi cut out styrofoam letters and painted them, covering them with glitter so that they would glisten under the lights.  Mark helped with painting boxes which eventually were used to showcase keywords that Bald Angels hold dear - words such as Love, Whanau, Kids, Community, Support, Hope, and Charity.  On the day of The Big Shave, 462 people volunteered to have their hair shaved off - a beautiful show of community support and spirit. 
Mark also shaved off his beautiful locks!
